European Youth Campaign

adae log

'All different, all equal' is a Council of Europe campaign aimed at promoting the themes of diversity, human rights and participation.

In 1995 - 50 years after the end of World War II - the Council of Europe ran a European Youth Campaign entitled 'All different - all equal' in order to reinforce the fight against racism, anti-Semitism, xenophobia and intolerance.

Nevertheless the struggle - some ten years later - still goes on. For this reason, from June 2006 to September 2007 the Council of Europe is running a new campaign for diversity, human rights and participation, based upon the same slogan.

The UK launched its commitment to this campaign with a joint UK conference on the 26-27 March 2007. The Youth Council for Northern Ireland (YCNI) presented the work of the JEDI Initiative and organisations who have applied EDI methodologies in their work with young people at this launch.

Following this event work has been underway to document and share case studies of good practice relevant to the All Different All Equal campaign themes of diversity, discrimination and participation. The aim is to encourage and enable young people to participate in building peaceful societies based on human rights, diversity and inclusion in a spirit of respect, tolerance and mutual understanding.

So what's been happening at local level in NI?
